Description:

  • KoBold is seeking a Staff ML Data Scientist to work remotely, focusing on mineral exploration using advanced AI models and remote sensing data.
  • The role involves architecting, implementing, and maintaining data science models for large-scale geospatial data relevant to mineral exploration projects.
  • Responsibilities include improving processing pipelines for lidar, high-resolution imagery, and hyperspectral data, as well as implementing advanced analysis methods.
  • The candidate will lead a team of 3-6 field engineers and data scientists, managing the global airborne data collection program and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • The position requires a proactive approach to learning and exploring new technologies, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across disciplines.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, data scientist, or ML engineer, with most ideal candidates having closer to 10 years.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing technical teams in complex, multidisciplinary projects is required.
  • Proficiency in foundational concepts of machine learning, including statistical, traditional, and deep-learning approaches is essential.
  • Candidates should be proficient in Python, particularly with array-based packages such as xarray and numpy.
  • Experience in scaling complex data operations across distributed computing resources using tools like Spark or Dask is necessary.
  • A strong understanding of geology and mineral exploration practices, along with experience working with multispectral remote-sensing data, is preferred.
  • Candidates must demonstrate exceptional curiosity, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to communicate technical problems effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
