Description:
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for the technical direction of the product from start to finish, including technical requirements gathering, data modeling, technology selection, and deployment.
This role involves supporting various phases of development and maintenance while leading, guiding, training, and mentoring junior developers.
The Staff Engineer must balance rapid iteration and development with high product quality expectations and be innovative and comfortable with ambiguity.
The position reports directly to the VP of Engineering and requires the ability to communicate complex technical information to various stakeholders.
The Staff Software Engineer will collaborate with various teams to build, maintain, and troubleshoot new and existing web applications.
Responsibilities include making major technical decisions, collaborating with an offshore development team, providing technical mentorship, improving technical quality through design and code reviews, and leading mid-sized development projects.
The role also involves troubleshooting upper environment issues, working on multiple projects simultaneously, and contributing problem-solving skills to web application development.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in senior engineering roles, equivalent to 15+ years of industry experience.
Expert-level knowledge of the Microsoft .NET technology stack (C#, .NET, ASP.NET, Web APIs, and Microsoft SQL Server) is required.
Experience with Typescript, React, Git, unit testing (xUnit, NUnit, etc.), debugging, profiling, performance monitoring, Docker/Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, ML/NLP, Azure DevOps, and SignalR is essential.
Candidates should have extensive experience working in software-as-a-service (SaaS) environments and experience in start-up or ambiguous environments.
A strong understanding of industry standards and best practices, along with team leadership and mentoring experience, is necessary.
Experience designing and implementing full-stack products or solutions and mastery of the software development lifecycle is required.
