Description:
Cruise is a self-driving service focused on building advanced self-driving vehicles to enhance urban mobility.
The Staff Validation Software Engineer will work within the Autonomous Vehicle Systems Engineering team, acting as a technical liaison across various departments.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing offline software and tools for Autonomous Vehicle validation using Python and SQL.
The role involves building data tools and visualizations to support decision-making regarding vehicle performance, safety, and testing confidence.
The engineer will scale validation tooling and framework improvements to meet Systems Engineering goals in various markets.
The position requires setting coding and data quality standards for risk and simulation testing tools.
Continuous evolution of methods to improve the quality of testing signals for stakeholders is expected.
The engineer will analyze Autonomous Vehicle data to validate systems engineering requirements and influence their development.
Leading data analyses and safety analysis to inform teams on system function and performance is a key responsibility.
The role includes developing methods to assess the impact of software changes on systems engineering requirements.
The engineer will define requirements and establish tools for monitoring the quality of validation products.
Leadership and guidance to junior team members while maintaining quality and efficiency standards is also part of the job.
Requirements:
A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 10+ years of postgraduate experience in software engineering, data science, systems engineering, or related fields.
Strong experience in writing Python and SQL code is essential, with bonus points for knowledge in C++.
The ability to understand complex technical systems and adapt to ambiguity is necessary.
Candidates should be able to prioritize tasks while maintaining focus on completing technical work.
Strong technical and non-technical communication skills are required.
