Description:

  • Wellhub is a corporate wellness platform that connects employees to various partners for fitness, mindfulness, therapy, nutrition, and sleep, all under one subscription.
  • The company is hiring a Tech Lead Software Engineer for the Billing team in Portugal, in a remote capacity.
  • This role is an Individual Contributor position responsible for the platform that processes millions of transactions globally for Wellhub.
  • The architecture and systems ensure consistency across multiple areas and services for calculating subscription prices.
  • Responsibilities include researching, architecting, planning, and executing strategic projects with a high-performing software engineering team.
  • The role influences B2B and B2C checkout conversion by creating new calculation mechanisms and improving existing ones.
  • The candidate will work on loosely defined project scopes, developing strategies to balance features and time to market in collaboration with Product Managers and Designers.
  • The position offers opportunities to evolve leadership skills by coaching less senior engineers and developing engineering skills through solving scalability problems and ensuring high code quality.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must be an experienced backend engineer with skills in architecting large-scale multi-tier web applications that ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Experience with microservices and high-volume distributed systems is required.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java or Kotlin with Spring, is necessary.
  • Prior work experience with event-driven and cloud-based architectures, specifically AWS and GCP, is essential.
  • Extensive experience in designing and developing complex modern web applications is required.
  • The candidate should have experience in developing RESTful web services and collaborating with front-end teams.
  • A strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis, is necessary.
  • The candidate must have a background in SQL/NoSQL technologies, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB, with an understanding of their use cases and performance pitfalls.
  • Exceptional communication skills are required to work effectively with diverse teams across different countries.
  • The candidate should be focused on continuous improvement and possess advanced English skills for clear articulation of ideas.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience is required.
