Description:

Wattpad is seeking an Android Engineer to develop and maintain their Android app.
The role involves collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineers to create new features and improve existing ones.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing Android app features using Kotlin and Compose, writing functional unit tests, and refactoring existing code.
The engineer will translate Figma design mockups into user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and release bi-weekly app updates to the Google Play Store.
The position requires effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in code reviews to ensure code quality.
Continuous improvement is emphasized, with a focus on staying updated with the latest Android technologies and best practices.
The engineer should be able to quickly learn complex codebases and troubleshoot issues.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 2-4 years of experience in Android development.
Strong proficiency in Kotlin is required.
Expertise in Jetpack Compose and Material Design for UI development is necessary.
Experience with Firebase, dependency injection libraries (e.g., Hilt), Room, and Retrofit is expected.
Knowledge of multithreading and concurrency management using Kotlin Coroutines and WorkManager is essential.
Familiarity with MVVM and CLEAN architectural patterns is required.
Proficiency in Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines is necessary.
Experience with unit testing and UI testing frameworks is expected.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
