Description:

Wattpad is seeking an Android Engineer to develop and maintain their Android app.
The role involves collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineers to create new features and improve existing ones.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing Android app features using Kotlin and Compose, writing functional unit tests, and refactoring existing code.
The engineer will translate Figma design mockups into user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and release bi-weekly app updates to the Google Play Store.
The position requires effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in code reviews to ensure code quality.
Continuous improvement is emphasized, with a focus on staying updated with the latest Android technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 2-4 years of experience in Android development.
Strong proficiency in Kotlin is required.
Expertise in Jetpack Compose for UI development is necessary.
Experience with Firebase, dependency injection libraries (e.g., Hilt), Room, and Retrofit is essential for handling local data and networking calls.
Knowledge of multithreading and concurrency using Kotlin Coroutines and WorkManager is important.
Familiarity with MVVM and CLEAN architectural patterns is expected.
Candidates should have knowledge of Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with unit testing and UI testing frameworks is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
