Description:

  • The team at Jellyfish is changing how product development happens, helping engineering teams learn how to work together and communicate more effectively.
  • Jellyfish is in search of a Backend Engineer who is passionate about performance, scaling, and working with a lot of data.
  • The ideal candidate is performance-minded and has experience with data ingestion and ETL processes.
  • Experience building internal tools to triage and debug issues is a plus.
  • This position offers a great opportunity to be a member of an exceptional engineering organization with high agency, allowing you to help shape the features your team builds and how your team builds them.
  • Responsibilities include developing and improving data ingestion from external sources (e.g., Jira/Git) into Jellyfish, implementing observability and metrics tooling, and developing internal tools to enable teams to better support customers.
  • The role also involves handling customer escalations related to data ingestion, designing, planning, and implementing key features as part of a highly effective agile team, and providing technical expertise within your team and across the organization.
  • Effective communication about project status and technical issues is essential, as well as participation in the teamโ€™s agile process to continually improve capabilities.
  • Support for production operations of the Jellyfish product and active participation in a culture supportive of growth and inclusion on the team are also required.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must know how to build and scale data ingestion pipelines.
  • Strong programming skills with extensive Python experience are required.
  • Familiarity with observability and profiling is necessary.
  • Candidates should be great at asking questions, figuring out what needs to be done, building consensus, and executing.
  • Consideration of both the needs of the user and the needs of the business when designing a solution is important.
  • A love for learning new things and sharing knowledge with others is expected.
  • Strong communication skills and enjoyment of teamwork are essential.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer and be located in the EST or CST time zone.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
