Remote Lead Software Engineer

Description:

• The Lead Software Engineer will serve as an expert technical resource overseeing architectural design and implementation of software and technologies.
• This role involves acting as a hands-on leader of a small team of engineers.
• The individual will contribute to high quality, testable software solutions used across the DCI Software product line.
• Responsibilities include working with software development, QA, and DevOps teams to produce high quality technology solutions.
• The Lead Software Engineer will lead a small team to design and develop solutions to DCI Software’s biggest technical opportunities.
• Mentoring less senior engineers as needed is also part of the role.
• The engineer will build modern, architecturally sound components, tools, and applications to meet mission-driven strategic business goals.
• Infusing quality of service characteristics, such as scalability, manageability, and maintainability, into distributed frameworks is essential.
• The role requires employing industry best practices to evaluate, correct, and prevent vulnerabilities during the software development process.
• The Lead Software Engineer will serve as a leader, encouraging a culture of innovation and accountability while adhering to Agile best practices.
• Researching and prototyping new or alternative software solutions to improve product quality is expected.
• Assisting in process development and enhancement in accordance with ITIL best practices is also part of the job.
• Additional projects or duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years developing large-scale, highly reliable, and highly available Internet-facing applications using Microsoft technologies is required.
• At least 2 years of experience leading people, either as a team lead or technical lead, is necessary.
• Candidates must have 7+ years of experience with software development technologies such as .NET (C# / ASP.NET/.Net Core).
• A minimum of 7 years of experience with MS-SQL or similar SQL database writing T-SQL and stored procedures and database schema design is required.
• Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with cloud technologies (Azure Preferred) using PaaS and SaaS offerings.
• Preferred qualifications include experience in developing technical documentation and leading and mentoring junior and senior technical team members.
• Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Git (BitBucket), and Lucid Chart is preferred.
• Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate effectively in group or individual situations and maintain confidentiality.
• Team members are expected to take personal responsibility for actions, demonstrate excellence in work standards, and effectively problem solve.
