The Principal Data Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of data platforms and advanced analytics applications.
This senior technical role will collaborate closely with engineering, product, operations, and customer success teams.
Responsibilities include defining architectural direction, driving best practices, and guiding cross-functional efforts to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance data platforms.
The role will directly impact advanced analytics, machine learning, and mission-critical business operations across the organization.
This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates located in the EST or CST time zones within the US only.
Essential job duties include designing end-to-end data architectures, collaborating with stakeholders, building and optimizing ETL/ELT workflows, and implementing best-in-class solutions using various technologies.
The role also involves developing best practices for data quality, establishing SLAs, identifying performance bottlenecks, providing technical leadership, and promoting engineering excellence.
Other duties may be assigned by a supervisor or HHAeXchange leader.
Travel requirements include up to 10% travel, including overnight travel.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is highly desirable.
Candidates must have 8+ years of combined software and data engineering experience with a strong focus on distributed data processing and data-intensive applications.
A minimum of 5 years of experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining reporting and analytics tools is required.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience working in highly regulated industries, preferably healthcare or homecare.
Proven expertise in Python, SQL, query and database optimization, and data governance is essential.
Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data warehousing technologies is required.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead large-scale data initiatives and influence architectural decisions across teams.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
Experience designing data platforms that support ML/AI workflows is preferred.
Hands-on experience in AI/ML, LLMs, and AI assistant tools is preferred.
Experience in healthcare or homecare technology and product development is preferred.
A willingness to explore and adopt AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity and innovation is required.
Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $155,000-184,000 per year, not including variable compensation.
An employee’s starting salary will be based on various factors including experience, education, training, and location.
This is a benefits-eligible position, offering competitive health plans and paid time-off.
