Description:

  • The Senior Engineer, Telemetry position at Canonical is a remote-based opportunity in the EMEA region for an experienced software engineer with a passion for open source software, Linux, and Web Services at scale.
  • The role involves collaborating with a globally distributed team to architect scalable service APIs using Python and Golang, developing data governance systems within the telemetry platform, and working on cloud-based SaaS offerings and containerized on-prem solutions.
  • Responsibilities include designing and implementing new features, reviewing code, and discussing ideas with the team.
  • The ideal candidate will have a broad technology base, expertise in backend code and infrastructure, understanding of cybersecurity challenges in IoT environments, and proficiency in telemetry and connectivity systems and platforms.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing back-end web services, messaging/data pipelines, and REST APIs using Python and/or Golang is required.
  • A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field is necessary, along with a willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

  • Familiarity with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
