Description:

  • Arista Networks is seeking a skilled professional for the Engineering Productivity (EngProd) team to maintain and support its expanding infrastructure and internal user base.
  • The ideal candidate should be versatile, enthusiastic about learning new technologies, and capable of wearing many hats.
  • As part of the software engineering team, the candidate will design, build, and administer secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant tools and infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • The role involves collaborating with other engineers to design, build, scale, and operate systems used by Arista’s product development teams, utilizing industry standards such as Ansible, Artifactory, Gerrit, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Grafana, Spinnaker, MySQL, ElasticSearch, Google Cloud, and Varnish.
  • Responsibilities include building and operating critical production systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and security.
  • The candidate will monitor, support, and enhance developer experience across services, build automation to reduce toil, and proactively manage alerts.
  • The role requires creating and maintaining incident response runbooks, triaging platform issues, and engaging with third-party vendor support.
  • The candidate will write postmortem documents, plan maintenance windows, and work with product development teams to identify and resolve infrastructural bottlenecks.
  • The position also involves adopting best practices for maintaining secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems and studying the design of open-source systems for better issue resolution.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least 3 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least 3 years of experience, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or shell scripting to implement medium complexity automation workflows is essential.
  • Knowledge of Linux (or UNIX) from an administration and debugging perspective is required.
  • Hands-on experience in operating software systems at scale, including infrastructure and complex applications, is necessary.
  • Experience in server provisioning, particularly from a storage and networking perspective, is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills are essential.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code is required.
