Description:

Extreme’s Cloud Operations team is seeking a highly motivated Cloud Operations Engineer with strong experience in production operation and deployment automation.
The role involves designing, developing, and implementing deployment automation solutions end-to-end.
Responsibilities include participating in continuous cloud service operation and troubleshooting complex production issues.
The engineer will help lead infrastructure engineering for ExtremeCloud, a multi-cloud SaaS platform.
Key tasks include designing and implementing multi-cluster, multi-region Kubernetes deployments across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
The engineer will take end-to-end ownership of production infrastructure, driving incident response and improvements.
Responsibilities also include building and maintaining Terraform modules, managing configuration files using GitOps principles, and optimizing deployment pipelines.
The role requires analyzing system performance, implementing optimizations, and improving service level objectives (SLOs).
The engineer will enhance monitoring and observability using tools like Prometheus and Grafana, and implement security controls across cloud infrastructure.
Technical leadership is expected, including mentoring engineers and collaborating with various teams to deliver reliable infrastructure.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider, preferably AWS.
Strong experience with Kubernetes, including cluster design and multi-cluster management, is required.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is necessary.
Expertise in GitOps practices, including experience with ArgoCD or Flux, is essential.
Candidates should possess deep knowledge of Linux and networking.
Experience with distributed systems like Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and RabbitMQ is required.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana is necessary.
Strong problem-solving skills and experience debugging complex distributed systems are essential.
Knowledge of cloud security and compliance frameworks, such as SOC2 and ISO27001, is required.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration across time zones and distributed teams are necessary.
Candidates should be self-directed with a proven track record of owning problems end-to-end.
