Description:

Work on core systems for Synthesia’s script preview and voice generation experience.
Build and operate backend services that orchestrate multiple text-to-speech (TTS) providers.
Ensure provider reliability, request routing, and output consistency for high-quality voice content.
Collaborate with frontend engineers to integrate APIs and workflows into the product experience.
Own projects involving robustness layers, persistence systems, and voice data management.
Contribute to voice discovery and recommendations initiatives.
Evaluate work through system performance and user experience metrics.

Requirements:

Several years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
Strong backend engineering skills, preferably in Python/FastAPI.
Experience designing reliable, observable services, ideally with third-party APIs or distributed systems.
Product mindset focused on solving user-facing problems.
Comfortable working close to the client and understanding API consumption.
Willingness to engage with frontend code when necessary.
Ability to work in an iterative, experiment-driven environment.
Experience with observability tools, workflow systems, or evaluation/recommendation systems is a plus.
