Description:

  • Lead technical direction for the team, focusing on service architecture, API contracts, and event-driven design.
  • Design, build, and scale services using Ruby on Rails and Node.js, emphasizing reliability and performance.
  • Participate in cross-team architectural decisions and maintain high technical standards.
  • Write and review RFCs, communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly.
  • Solve complex technical problems, including debugging distributed systems in production.
  • Conduct rigorous code and design reviews to elevate team technical standards.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels to foster growth and autonomy.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering management to translate business objectives into technical plans.
  • Ensure quality standards in testing, CI/CD, security, and AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • B2 or higher English proficiency.
    • 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and Node.js.
    • Proven experience leading technical teams and executing technical direction successfully.
    • Experience designing and operating microservices and APIs at scale, including event-driven systems.
    • Practical experience with distributed systems and observability.
    • Experience operating services in Kubernetes on cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).
    • Solid knowledge of modern frontend (React/Next.js) for cross-architecture decisions.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate team technical standards.
    • Daily use of AI development tools with the ability to review and validate outputs.
    • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly in both Spanish and English.
  • Considerations:
    • Experience with Next.js in production.
    • Experience migrating monoliths to services.
    • Contributions to open source projects in Ruby or JavaScript/TypeScript.
    • Experience defining AI-assisted development practices at the team level.
    • Experience in logistics, e-commerce, fintech, or domains with real monetary consequences.
    • Experience working with relational databases at scale.
