Remote Contract Software Engineer (Javascript/SQL)

Description:

• The position is for a Contract Software Engineer specializing in Javascript and SQL, with a remote work setup available for candidates in the EU.
• The role is part of the Engineering department at YLD, a software engineering and design consultancy focused on empowering clients to develop capabilities that outperform competitors.
• As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be involved in building innovative products and expected to demonstrate curiosity, passion, and enthusiasm.
• Responsibilities include crafting excellent products, continuously delivering changes to products, collaborating with the team on engineering initiatives, and participating in internal events.
• The work environment is Agile (Scrum) with a test-first mindset, emphasizing pair programming and code reviews.

Requirements:

• Proven commercial experience with React and Node is required.
• Strong experience in JavaScript, including asynchronous programming, closures, and ES6.
• Experience working with SQL databases, with knowledge of Redshift and Snowflake considered a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with GraphQL and distributed version control systems like Git is necessary.
• A strong focus on continuous integration and delivery, as well as test-driven development (TDD).
• Ability to build high-performance and scalable applications and a good understanding of RESTful web services.
• Familiarity with performance monitoring tools and the ability to debug production issues effectively.
• Candidates should be self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
