Description:

The company is seeking exceptional C++ engineers to join their remote-first, global team to scale and grow both their open-source and ClickHouse Cloud offerings.
Responsibilities include contributing to, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of the core ClickHouse database, focusing on query optimization, distributed query optimization, relational operators, caching, and low-level optimizations.
The role involves extending existing and adding new performance tests to ensure database performance remains optimal over time.
Engineers will assist the Support Engineering team in debugging advanced performance issues and participate in an on-call rotation and community support channels.
Collaboration with other teams is essential to assess the impact of new features on performance and reliability.
Engineers will engage with the open-source community by resolving issues, reviewing pull requests, and answering questions across various platforms.

Requirements:

Candidates must have solid professional software development experience in C++, including experience with Unix Systems.
Strong knowledge of database internals and design is required.
Experience in performance engineering is essential, ideally within a database context, but other areas like high-frequency trading or real-time data processing are acceptable.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within and across engineering teams are necessary.
Candidates should be ready to work closely with the open-source community, participating in code reviews with attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving abilities and solid production debugging skills are required.
A passion for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance is essential.
