Description:
Supabase is seeking an experienced Database Support Engineer to join their Support Team.
The role involves helping developers resolve complex issues and improve their experience with the Supabase platform.
Responsibilities include investigating and resolving advanced customer issues across various services such as Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions, and client libraries.
The engineer will provide proactive advice to optimize workloads and assist advanced users.
Tasks include reproducing bugs, isolating root causes, proposing workarounds, and escalating issues to engineering.
The role requires clear and empathetic communication with customers, especially during high-impact situations.
The engineer will identify patterns in support tickets and recommend improvements to documentation and tooling.
Mentoring junior team members to enhance overall support quality is also a key responsibility.
The position is full-time and requires being located in APAC time zones.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 6+ years of experience in technical support, backend engineering, SRE, or a similar field.
A deep understanding of PostgreSQL, including autovacuum behavior, WAL growth, long-running transactions, and table bloat, is essential.
Strong skills in high-performance SQL and query optimization are required.
The ability to troubleshoot complex setups, including multi-tenant schema patterns, is necessary.
Experience debugging edge functions and understanding distributed system behavior is important.
Candidates should have handled data migration issues and know how to recover safely.
Hands-on experience with cloud hosting providers like AWS is required.
Comfort in terminal and Linux environments is necessary.
The ability to thrive in high-volume situations and quickly form/test assumptions is essential.
