Description:

Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, empowering creators with their own publishing platform.
As a member of Substack’s Activation team, you will be responsible for building and testing features that attract new readers and enhance their discovery experience.
Your work will involve improving discovery, onboarding, notifications, and recommendations on Substack, as well as running A/B tests on key user flows.
You will develop features that help writers increase their earnings on Substack.
Collaboration with designers, writers, support staff, and others is essential, from product concept and research to implementation and deployment.
The technology stack includes TypeScript, Node/Express, React, and Postgres, and you will have the opportunity to learn these technologies if you are not already familiar with them.

Requirements:

You must have at least 5 years of software engineering experience.
The position requires you to be independent and autonomous, as the company is too small for micromanagement.
You should hold yourself and others to a high standard when working on production systems.
A pride in building elegant and delightful product experiences is essential, as Substack aims to facilitate writers' focus on their craft.
Enjoyment of collaboration with a diverse group of thinkers while contributing your unique experience and background to the team is important.
You must believe in Substack’s mission to create a better business model for writing.
Experience at a fast-growing startup or on a high-performing growth team is a plus, but not required.

Substack offers a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits.
The cash compensation salary range for this role is $140,000 - $260,000, with final offer amounts determined by candidate experience and expertise.
