Description:

  • Arcadia is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes through better data and smarter technology.
  • The Principal Software Engineer will take technical ownership of the User Management system, focusing on rearchitecting and implementing a robust, scalable, and secure access control framework.
  • This role is backend-leaning full stack (approximately 60/40) and requires deep expertise in distributed systems.
  • In the first three months, the engineer will ramp up on the existing User Management system, complete design handoff for the new architecture, and begin staged implementation.
  • By six months, the engineer will lead the implementation of a database-backed access control framework and drive integration into key applications.
  • After twelve months, the engineer will own a fully modernized User Management system and establish technical excellence practices.
  • Responsibilities include leading the rearchitecture of the User Management platform, building backend services and APIs, designing distributed systems, managing cloud infrastructure, defining SLOs, and mentoring engineers.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 10+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience with a focus on backend and distributed systems.
  • Proven success in building and scaling identity and access management systems, including authentication and authorization frameworks, is required.
  • Expertise in TypeScript, Node.js/NestJS, and modern React/Angular development is necessary for full stack delivery.
  • A strong command of cloud architecture (preferably AWS) and IaC practices with Terraform is essential.
  • Deep experience with relational and NoSQL data stores, focusing on scalability and high availability, is required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to own complex systems from design through rollout and post-release operation.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work across teams are necessary.
  • Strong communication and architectural reasoning skills are required, along with a passion for mission-driven work in healthcare.
