Description:

  • Adthena is seeking a Python Scraping Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale web scraping systems, focusing on Google and similar search environments.
  • The role is critical for delivering accurate, timely, and trustworthy data at scale, addressing complex scraping challenges such as dynamic rendering and anti-bot defenses.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining Python scraping systems, building scrapers for JavaScript-heavy pages, adapting to changes in page structure, and implementing strategies for stability and throughput.
  • The position requires monitoring scrape health, optimizing performance, and collaborating with data engineers and product teams to ensure data usability.
  • The role is remote for applicants based in specific EU countries, and the start date is ASAP.

Requirements:

  • Strong professional experience with Python, particularly in production-grade scraping systems.
  • Deep hands-on experience scraping Google or similarly protected platforms.
  • Solid understanding of HTTP, TLS, cookies, headers, redirects, and browser networking behavior.
  • Experience with browser automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Puppeteer.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML parsing, DOM traversal, and data extraction techniques.
  • Experience managing rate limiting, CAPTCHA, IP rotation, and bot detection systems.
  • Comfortable with asynchronous and concurrent scraping architectures.
  • Experience running scrapers at scale in cloud environments.
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to analyze complex failure modes.
  • Familiarity with headless browser fingerprinting and anti-bot evasion techniques.
