As a Senior Backend Engineer on the AI Team, you will build, scale, and optimize the infrastructure for ML-powered clinical features and decision support systems.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the robustness, scalability, and security of Sword’s products, enabling seamless access to personalized, data-driven care.
Key responsibilities include architecting and designing backend systems, optimizing APIs and database schemas, developing backend architectures for machine learning model deployment, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements:

You must have 5+ years of professional experience in backend engineering, focusing on building scalable systems and services.
Proficiency in Python is required, along with hands-on experience in Python-based frameworks and libraries; a strong willingness to learn is also valued.
Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and optimizing complex queries and transactions is necessary.
Proven experience in building and maintaining high-performance APIs is essential.
A strong understanding of software design patterns, microservices architecture, and cloud-native applications is required.
You should be able to work in a fast-paced, agile environment while managing multiple technical priorities and collaborating effectively across teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex tasks into manageable components are needed.
