Description:

Vultr is seeking a Senior Engineer, Cloud Networking to architect and lead the evolution of its global cloud networking platform.
The role involves driving the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure network services including VPC, edge connectivity, and security features.
This is a cross-functional, hands-on position focused on building the networking foundation of Vultr's infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include working on technical design for next-gen cloud networking, driving implementation of control/data plane features, managing services like BGP peering and tenant isolation, prototyping and validating new capabilities at scale, supporting production systems and incident response, and extending Vultr’s control plane to integrate networking features.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, network engineering, or hosting environments.
Experience with virtual networking (public/private cloud), SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN is required.
Strong knowledge of BGP, L2/L3 routing, Linux, and Kubernetes networking is essential.
Network automation and observability experience is necessary.
Proficiency in Go or Rust is required, with familiarity in PHP and SQL considered a plus.
Clear communication skills across engineering and leadership are important.
Experience with high-performance networking hardware (Broadcom DNX, XGS, DPUs, SmartNICs, etc.) is needed.
Candidates should have experience in legacy system modernization and network security or multi-tenant firewall experience.
A background with cloud providers or hyperscalers is preferred.
