The Sr. Backend Engineer - Tech Lead will report to the Vice President of Engineering and be a key member of the R&D team.
This role involves leading the technical vision for backend development, implementing features, fixing bugs, and improving Java Spring Microservices.
The work schedule is aligned with Eastern Standard Time (EST), regardless of the employee's location.
Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, mentoring junior engineers, and working with product teams to understand and execute requirements.

Requirements:

Candidates must have extensive experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, JPA (Hibernate), and SQL relational databases.
Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests while maintaining strong code coverage is required.
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture is essential.
In-depth knowledge of relational databases, including indices, connection pools, and transaction management (ACID), is necessary.
Experience with NoSQL databases and understanding their advantages and disadvantages is required.
Candidates should have a clear vision for backend software development and be proactive in ensuring the project's long-term health.
A keen eye for refactoring and applying standard design principles and patterns is important.
A collaborative attitude and willingness to learn and teach are essential.
Experience working in a remote team across different time zones is preferred.
Comfort in an agile, fast-paced startup environment is necessary.
A BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Experience in Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, and relational databases is mandatory.
A background in real estate with transferable skills is an asset.
Demonstrated project coordination and management skills are necessary.
