Description:

The System Engineer (Backup) will design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions using IBM TSM/Spectrum Protect and Veeam, ensuring data protection across virtual, physical, and cloud environments.
The role involves performing backup scheduling, retention policy management, and capacity planning, aligning with RPO/RTO requirements and compliance standards.
The engineer will monitor and troubleshoot backup/restore operations, proactively identifying issues and resolving failures to ensure high backup success rates and data availability.
Integration and optimization of backup processes for critical databases, including SAP HANA (via Backint), Oracle RMAN, and other enterprise workloads is required.
Collaboration with application, database, and infrastructure teams is essential to ensure consistent and reliable data protection strategies for business-critical systems.
The position includes developing and maintaining documentation, including runbooks, configuration guides, and audit reports, while leading DR test exercises and compliance checks.

Requirements:

A strong understanding and at least 3 years of experience with backup software (IBM TSM/Spectrum Protect and Veeam), storage technologies (SAN, NAS), and networking concepts are required.
The candidate must have the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Capability to interpret backup logs and reports, identify trends, and proactively address potential problems is necessary.
The candidate should possess the ability to collaborate with other IT teams and effectively communicate technical information.
Proficiency in the English language is required.
Participation in On-Call duty is expected.

The position offers the possibility of remote working, although it is only available within Hungary due to European taxation regulations.
