Murmuration is seeking a mission-driven Senior Data Engineer with a proven track record of building impactful infrastructure.
The role involves working with various data sources, including voter files, census data, polling results, and election returns, which require organization and transformation into a unified representation of American civic life.
The engineer will design, implement, and evolve scalable data pipelines and infrastructure using tools such as Dagster, Airflow, Snowflake, AWS, MongoDB, and dbt.
Responsibilities include leading data ingestion and integration, ensuring data quality and integrity, transforming raw data into usable datasets, leveraging AI for enhanced impact, and mentoring other engineers.
The position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with data scientists, researchers, and product teams.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 6+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or a related field.
Deep experience in designing and operating data pipelines and orchestration frameworks, such as Dagster and Airflow, is required.
A strong understanding of ELT/analytics engineering patterns, including dbt and dimensional modeling, is necessary.
Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake and cloud infrastructure such as AWS is essential.
Proficiency in Python, containerization (Docker), and modern deployment patterns is required.
Experience working in lean, cross-functional teams and adapting to evolving requirements is important.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to explain technical concepts to non-technical partners.
