Description:

Metabase is seeking exceptional software engineers for multiple backend positions to enhance user experience with data tools.
The company operates on a mix of Clojure and JavaScript (and TypeScript), and candidates should have experience shipping production code in these languages.
Responsibilities include shipping major features end to end across the JavaScript and Clojure codebase and addressing backend issues as they arise.
Familiarity with machine learning, compiler theory, and modern big data infrastructures is beneficial.
The team is fully distributed globally, allowing for flexible schedules and remote work from anywhere.

Requirements:

Candidates must have experience in Clojure or a strong desire to learn it.
A track record of shipping products of significant complexity is required.
A solid computer science background is necessary, either through a CS program or practical software shipping experience.
Candidates should be able to make sound technical judgments and articulate their reasoning effectively.
Experience with JDBC and database integrations is a plus.
Knowledge of the Java ecosystem and JVM tuning is also a plus.
A history of open source contributions is desirable.
Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript is a nice to have, as the frontend is developed in these languages.
