Remote Staff, Applied AI Engineer

Description:

• Lead and own multiple client engagements from ideation to production.
• Prototype rapidly while ensuring long-term reliability, maintainability, and security.
• Balance multiple concurrent engagements across different technical stacks and business domains.
• Contribute to the Headstart Platform roadmap by delivering high-leverage investments.
• Shape client strategy by reframing problems and influencing priorities.
• Act as the technical authority in sales and scoping conversations.
• Mentor and grow engineers, raising the quality of projects.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with complex systems.
• Experience as a technical authority in executive and client discussions.
• Creative application of AI in the development lifecycle.
• Proven full-stack depth: backend services (Python), datastores, React/Next.js.
• Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines at scale.
• Bonus: Founding engineer or startup early hire experience.
• Bonus: NYC-based candidates preferred for office perks.
