Description:

KoBold is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Decision Science to enhance mineral exploration through modern scientific computing.
The role involves architecting, implementing, and maintaining decision science libraries for mineral exploration analyses.
Responsibilities include building tools to accelerate decision-making, enabling rapid prototyping, and organizing machine learning models for repeatability.
The candidate will collaborate with data scientists, geoscientists, and engineers to develop innovative decision science technology.
Occasional travel to exploration sites worldwide is required, approximately twice a year, to observe the impact of scientific computing on exploration products.

Requirements:

Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in decision science with a strong software engineering focus, ideally closer to 10 years.
A proven track record of building production-quality data processing solutions that deliver business value is essential.
Proficiency in foundational machine learning concepts, including statistical, traditional, and deep-learning approaches, is required.
Candidates must be proficient in Python, particularly with array-based packages such as xarray and numpy.
Deep experience with measured scientific data and experience in visualizing scientific data for domain experts is necessary.
Experience in MLops and creating robust machine learning systems is required.
The candidate should have a drive to enhance the effectiveness of data scientists in both experimental and production workflows.
A collaborative attitude to work with diverse stakeholders, including data scientists, geoscientists, and software engineers, is essential.
Strong communication skills to explain technical problems to non-developers and a willingness to learn about mineral exploration are important.

The position offers a competitive US base salary range of $170,000 - $215,000 for this full-time exempt role.
The role is remote, allowing candidates to work from anywhere in the United States or Canada.
