Mistral AI is seeking a talented and experienced software engineer to join their Research Platform team.
The role involves working closely with the R&D team to build a cloud-agnostic platform that enhances stability, scalability, and velocity across the research department.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing complex systems, building a flexible development environment for researchers, and optimizing tools for high-performance clusters.
The engineer will also be responsible for designing solutions for large data sets, maintaining data pipelines, and optimizing builds such as container images and Python environments.
Strong relationships with researchers will be built to understand their workflows and improve their productivity.
The role requires effective communication and documentation to help researchers utilize the tools and systems developed.
The engineer will contribute to the "platformization" of research and continuously improve the daily experience for researchers.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of successful experience in a similar DX / DevOps / SRE role.
Proficiency in software development, particularly in Python and Go, along with knowledge of programming best practices is required.
Exposure to site reliability engineering, including root cause analysis and in-production troubleshooting, is necessary.
Familiarity with infrastructure management practices such as CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, and observability is essential.
A technical product mindset and excellent problem-solving and communication skills are required.
Candidates should demonstrate ownership, high agency, and a desire to learn and improve processes for others.
The ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment is crucial, along with a low ego and team spirit mindset.
Additional qualifications that would enhance the application include experience with Bazel, strong knowledge of Python's ecosystem, familiarity with GPU-based workloads, and experience in fully remote environments.
